Basic Science Research

About Us

The Department of Surgery at the University of Utah actively supports basic scientific research across a broad range of areas. Members of the Basic Science Section pursue investigations in areas ranging from cardiac function to cancer. We are studying some of the most difficult and lethal diseases including pancreatic cancer and glioblastoma. We seek to train the next generation of scientists through our residencies, fellowships, graduate programs, and collaborations across a variety of disciplines.

Mission

To advance knowledge, educate students, and enhance health through basic scientific research.
