Alfred Balch, PhD, MA

Alfred Balch, Ph.D., is a Research Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Balch has a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. in Statistics from Colorado State University. He is a career biostatistician. Dr. Balch has extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, including pharmaceutical statistics, extensive work in clinical trials and significant regulatory, project leadership, technical leadership and management experience.

Dr. Balch develops novel statistical approaches to data analysis that incorporate population and individual patient factors from clinical trials and from retrospective data. He designs statistically valid, implementable and novel research protocols and provides analytical and statistical support for ongoing and future research projects, designs, He is had been involved in database development, and statistical programming. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in his field, with specialized expertise in statistical modeling and clinical trial design, with emphasis in early compound development.
