Andrew Draper, PharmD, MSA, NCTTP joined the Utah Physician Assistant Program faculty in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah on June 1, 2020, bringing to the Department over twenty-five years of pharmacist experience in ambulatory care, managed care, and academic settings. Dr. Draper is currently an Assistant Professor in the Utah Physician Assistant Program. He currently teaches courses in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy throughout the Program’s didactic curriculum. Dr. Draper received his Honors BS degree in Pharmacy from University of Utah (1994), an Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University (1996), and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy (2001). He has been certified as an immunizer since 2009. Andrew’s past professional experiences have included over thirteen years as an ambulatory care/supervisory pharmacist and over four years as a managed care/mail order pharmacist. His past teaching experience included over six years as a professor at Roseman University’s College of Pharmacy. While at Roseman University, in addition to his teaching responsibilities, he also oversaw the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience program, served as a faculty advisor to two student organizations, and facilitated inter-professional education with Roseman University’s College of Nursing and College of Dental Medicine, as well as the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy. In his teaching career, Andrew has taught a variety of courses, including over-the-counter medications, alternative/complementary medicines, Top 200 medications, pharmacology, and infectious diseases. His current research interests are application of classroom knowledge to the clinical rotation setting, and improvement of student engagement in the online and hybrid teaching environments. His hobbies include reading, running, and spending time with his family in beautiful Southern Utah.
