I have a faculty appointment in the Pediatric Critical Care Division of the Department of Pediatrics and I work in the Utah Data Coordinating Center as a faculty biostatistician. In this capacity, I have been heavily involved with research networks in support of multicenter research. I support a Helping to End Addiction Long-term(R) (HEAL) Initiative multicenter trial of VA participants with opioid use disorder and a HEAL multicenter trial of women undergoing mastectomy. I have supported Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) clinical trials for pre-hospital and emergency department treatment of asthma and/or wheezing, comparing analgesics in the emergency department, and testing the effect of tele-health support on the simulation performance of emergency medical services teams. Also within PECARN, I have supported large prospective observational studies to learn about the effectiveness of analgesic prescriptions/recommendations in children with long-bone fractures and to create a rule for when imaging is indicated for children presenting to the emergency department with a chief complaint of headache. I have supported multicenter clinical registries, one devoted to youth concussion and another devoted to youth with pediatric onset multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases.

My statistical interests are varied--there are so many exciting approaches--but I have particular affection for Bayesian statistics and longitudinal data analysis.
