Carlie is a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides full scope care including pregnancy, postpartum, labor and delivery, gynecologic care, and management of contraception. Carlie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the BCHC practice, she worked as a provider in the OB emergency department and as a labor and delivery nurse. Carlie loves the University of Utah and feels most at home in her practice there.
From early in her nursing education Carlie knew that she wanted to pursue a career in women's health and midwifery. She is passionate about caring for women and their families throughout the various stages of life and childbearing. She feels strongly that healthcare should be about shared decision-making and encourages patients to participate in their care as much as possible. She is currently accepting new patients and attends births at the U of U hospital.
Outside of work, Carlie can usually be found with her children and husband. She loves to bake, cook, listen to podcasts, and garden. She was raised on a potato farm in rural Idaho. Some of the first births that she ever attended involved livestock. She enjoys going back to her childhood home with her family, especially in the summer.
