Caroline M. Garrett, DVM, DACLAM, is a Senior Clinical Veterinarian in the Office of Comparative Medicine (OCM) and Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. She has over a decade of experience supporting translational preclinical research investigations.

Dr. Garrett collaborates closely with several investigators at the John A. Moran Eye Center to support a variety of in vivo studies focused on understanding the anatomical organization and function of neural circuits in the visual cortex responsible for cognitive functions, including perception.

Her expertise includes advanced imaging, anesthesia, surgical and non-surgical techniques required to perform awake visual behavior studies, neuroanatomical mapping, neurophysiology, optogenetics, and models of ocular disease, including glaucoma.

She previously served as Assistant Professor and Director of Large Animal Clinical Medicine and Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM), with extensive experience performing biomedical research investigations across academic, government, and corporate settings.
