Dr. McWhorter is currently the Associate Director for Animal Care at the University of Utah (UoU) Office of Comparative Medicine (OCM), and oversees all technical veterinarian services that support research programs at the Health Sciences Center (HSC). She has extensive laboratory animal veterinarian experience, and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in reproductive physiology, specifically reproductive disorders and placental genetics and differentiation. She has worked on several NIH and USDA dual-purpose grants at Colorado State University as well as a recipient of NIH T32 Training Grant. She has successfully collaborated with other investigators regarding areas of study outside her area of expertise, including a project regarding human influenza virus and its impacts on pregnant mice.
