Divisions: Critical Care

Dr. Huong Meeks (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Critical Care Division, and a faculty epidemiologist at the Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC). She earned her PhD and MPH in Epidemiology and an MS in Statistics from Utah State University, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Prior to her faculty appointment, she worked as a biostatistician at the Pedigree and Population Resources where she collaborated with researchers across a wide range of disciplines including obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, urology, nutrition, and neuropsychology.

At the Utah DCC, Dr. Meeks has supervised study coordination, data collection, and statistical analysis for multiple multi-center clinical trials and observational studies. Her work spans several statewide and nationwide research networks and registries, including the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Network of Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Centers (NPMSC), and the Utah Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES). She currently leads the Data Coordinating Center for the XPRIZE Healthspan, a $101-million global competition aimed at revolutionizing healthy aging and making healthy aging possible for everyone.

Dr. Meeks' research focuses on statistical methodologies for observational studies, particularly those leveraging registry data and electronic health records. She is especially interested in how family and neighborhood environments shape individual well-being across the life course, with special emphasis on the impact of family caregiving and neighborhood disparities on adverse health outcomes.

Dr. Meeks is a core member of the Energy Balance Research Group, a member of the University of Utah Resource for Genetic & Epidemiologic Research, a caregiving scholar within the Family Caregiving Collaborative, and an affiliated member of the Consortium for Families and Health Research.
