Academic Bio

Hui Zhao, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah and a medical physicist at Huntsman Cancer Hospital (HCH).

Dr. Zhao specializes in the physics of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR).

Dr. Zhao obtained her B.S. degree in Modern Physics from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). She received a Ph.D. in Medical Physics from University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2005. Dr. Zhao is an active member of American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

Before joining HCH, Dr. Zhao completed a residency in clinical radiation oncology physics in the Radiation Oncology Department of Washington University in St. Louis. Her clinical and research interests include image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), gated radiation therapy, and adaptive radiation therapy.
