Maureen R. Keefe, RN, PhD, FAAN, joined the
University of
Utah in August 2001 as the dean of the
College of
Nursing where she served until August 2013. She is a tenured Professor and is a nationally known researcher working in the area of maternal child health care. Dr. Keefe is a spokesperson for issues affecting the nursing profession, the current nursing faculty shortage and the status of women. She was appointed by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services to the HRSA National Advisory Council for Nursing Education and Practice where she served as the chair of the executive committee. Dr. Keefe is a member of the Utah Women’s Forum, the Western Academy of Nurses, a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, and co-chairs the Utah Action Coalition for Health.
