Royce Moser, Jr., M.D., MPH served as Director of the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health from 1987 to 2003. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health. He served 23 years in the US Air Force with assignments as hospital commander, Medical Officer Special Weapons Defense for NORAD, chief of aerospace medicine at a major command, director of residency programs, and director of all USAF aeromedical education programs. His final assignment was Commander of the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, a 900 member organization with over 80% of its budget devoted to R&D, with investigations ranging from studies of neurotransmitters in the brain to developing techniques to help pilots withstand the onset of forces nine times the force of gravity. He then became a Professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine and was Deputy Director of the Department for Family and Preventive Medicine, Preventive Medicine Programs coordinator, occupational and preventive medicine residencies director, and Director of the Department’s Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. His major emphases are management of health care programs and medical aspects of disaster response, including terrorism response. He has published a number of articles on these subjects and one textbook, now in its 3rd edition, on management of health and safety programs. He has received a number of awards from the Aerospace Medical Association, the American College of Occupational Medicine, and other organizations, and he is past president of the Aerospace Medical Association and the Harvard School of Public Health Alumni Association. He continues to teach at the Rocky Mountain Center as Professor Emeritus.
