Dr. Hansen received a BA from Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin. She attended medical school at Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska, and completed a pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, also in Omaha. She was an attending physician and faculty member at Creighton University School of Medicine for three years. She has been an attending physician and faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center for the past 27 years, and currently is Professor of Pediatrics. Dr .Hansen specializes in Child Abuse Pediatrics. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics. Her current clinical research interest is in the appropriate use of radiologic methods in the diagnosis of child abuse. Dr. Hansen has always been interested in education and currently directs the child abuse required and elective rotations for medical students, residents, and fellows for the Department of Pediatrics. Her main interests, however, are clinical, within the field of Child Abuse Pediatrics. Recent honors include Physician of the Year at Primary Children’s Medical Center and Advocate of the Year from the Triple Board and Child Psychiatry Fellows at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center.
