Dr. Schenkenberg has been a member of the Department of Neurology since 1973. He was based at the VA Medical Center until 1999 when he moved over to the University. At the VA he was the Chief of the Psychology Service and managed the mental health consultation/liaison service for neurology, medicine, surgery and geriatrics.

Dr. Schenkenberg is double boarded in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology (American Board of Professional Psychology). He has published extensively on a variety of topics including neuropsychology, psychological assessment, electrophysiology, dementia and bioethics. He chaired the VA Hospital Ethics Committee for 13 years and has been on the University Hospital Ethics Committee for 12 years. He served on the Psychologists Licensing Board for 10 years, chairing the board for two years. He received the Utah Psyhcological Association's Distinguished Service Award. He received his A.B. degree from Rockhurst College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University

Dr. Schenkenberg conducts neuropsychological and psychological evaluations, on a referral basis, for patients with a variety of conditions. His research interests include dementia, head injury, various neuropsychological syndromes, and clinical ethics. He has been involved in the screening process for deep brain stimulation (DBS) for several years and consults regularly with the DBS team.
