
Raymond Thornton, MD attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. His internship was at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Residency in Diagnostic Radiology was at University of California at San Francisco, where he was Chief Resident and stayed on for fellowship training in Vascular Interventional Radiology. After fellowship, he joined the IR faculty at Memorial Sloan-Kettering where he worked for 13 years. At MSK, Thornton was founding program director of the IR fellowship and he was active in departmental and institutional quality care initiatives. His research interests and bibliography focus on the clinical care of oncologic IR patients, radiation safety, education and quality improvement. Dr. Thornton also holds bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in Piano from The Juilliard School.
