08/01/2000 | Physician Lecturer | Two week grant-funded medical mission to Lhasa, Tibet. I gave a lecture to chinese physicians about the role of family medicine in the US. I was chosen as a participant in part because of my former training in the Tibetan language. During this trip we performed a prelimary assesment of maternity health needs in the region. The project subsequently received additional NIH funding and returned over several years to give direct training to rural maternity caregivers in the Tibetan Autonomous region of China. | China |
