Departments Primary - Pediatrics

Divisions: Critical Care

Dr. Meeks (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Critical Care Division and a faculty epidemiologist at the University of Utah Data Coordinating Center. She earned both her PhD and MPH in Epidemiology, as well as an MS in Statistics from Utah State University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Prior to her faculty position, she worked as a biostatistician at the Pedigree and Population Resources where she collaborated with researchers across multiple disciplines including obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, urology, nutrition, neuropsychology, among others. Her research focuses on statistical methodologies for observational studies, particularly those leveraging registry data and electronic health records. She has specialized expertise in developing longitudinal databases that integrate and harmonize measures of individual and neighborhood socioeconomic characteristics over multiple decades. She is especially interested in how family and neighborhood environments promote individual well-being across the life course, with particular emphasis on the impact of family caregiving and neighborhood disparities on adverse pediatric health outcomes. Dr. Meeks is a core member of the Energy Balance Research Group, a member of the University of Utah Resource for Genetic & Epidemiologic Research, a caregiving scholar within the Family Caregiving Collaborative, and an affiliated member of the Consortium for Families and Health Research.
