Tim Jenkins received his B.S. in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University in 2008. He received his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Utah in 2013. Tim’s dissertation research evaluated the impact of age on male fertility and offspring health. Following completion of his Ph.D. he was offered a fellowship at the University of Utah and soon thereafter a faculty position with the Division of Urology. Tim’s research efforts as a faculty member at the University of Utah have been focussed on improving reproductive outcomes in patients with male factor infertility by optimizing clinical treatment options for couples seeking fertility care. One key project has been the improvement of sperm preparation procedures for intrauterine insemination with the use of microfluidic technology. This line of study is designed to improve the reliability of sperm preparation methods while decreasing exposures and stresses to sperm cells. As a result, the procedures being assessed have the capacity to increase success rates of commonly utilized assisted reproductive therapies. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his wife and three kids, fly fish, and mountain bike.
