Peter Hannon, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Utah in the division of Vascular Neurology. He received his undergraduate degree in fine arts at Rice University and obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed neurology residency and a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Utah. His areas of focus include medical education, quality improvement (QI), and investigating innovative methods of healthcare delivery. He has co-directed the medical school Brain and Behavior course and is very involved with both resident and medical student clerkship education. Dr. Hannon has been involved in QI projects throughout residency and fellowship, and is currently a departmental physician contact for the AAN Axon Registry and the UHC Mortality Review Collaborative. He is very interested in telemedicine, and has created two innovative tele-health neurology clinics to increase access to post-stroke and general neurology specialist care in both urban and rural Utah. Recently, he was nominated to become a council member representing Education & Research for the Utah Telehealth Network (UTN). He is site-PI for an NIH funded NeuroNext trial investigating novel agents in acute stroke care, and is working to help utilize existing tele-health technologies to increase enrollment in acute stroke trials at the university.
