Jennwood Chen, MD, is a fellowship-trained minimally invasive surgeon that has recently joined the Division of General Surgery. He specializes in bariatric (weight loss) and foregut surgery.

Dr. Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, and received his medical degree from Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He then completed his internship and residency at the University of Utah.

After completing his general surgery residency, he completed a fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he focused on minimally invasive bariatric and foregut procedures such as laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, anti-reflux surgery and paraesophageal hernia repairs.

He very much believes in a holistic approach to treating patients with the goal of improving patient’s overall well-being and quality of life.
