Dr. Shannon Son is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellow at the University of Utah. She was born and raised in Alaska before completing medical training at the University of Washington School of Medicine and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Son is passionate about helping women navigate difficult pregnancies in a way that is patient-centered and evidence-based, knowing that each pregnancy, woman, and family are unique. While she enjoys caring for women with all types of high-risk pregnancies, Dr. Son’s specific interests include complex fetal anomalies, multifetal gestations (twins, triplets, and other multiples), complicated vaginal deliveries (operative vaginal delivery, breech extraction), and maternal congenital heart disease. Her research interests include fetal anomalies and maternal congenital heart disease. In her free time, Dr. Son enjoys spending time outdoors with her family hiking, camping, skiing, and generally taking advantage of all that Utah has to offer.
