Boyd F. Richards, Ph.D., Professor of Pediatrics on the Lecturer Track in the Division of Pediatric Administration, Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Richards is the U of U SOM Educational Specialist Director. He supports the Vice Dean for Education on medical education matters consistent with UUSOM goals and objectives. He facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.

Dr. Richards has a significant role in the Department of Pediatrics’ participation in the Education in Pediatrics Across the Continuum initiative. He assures students’ successful transition to postgraduate training.

Dr. Richards’ area of investigation is medical education in the dissemination of new knowledge, and development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs.

Dr. Richards received his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University. He worked as an Evaluation Specialist for the Office of Education Research and Services at Wake Forest University; he served as the Director for the Office of Curriculum at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to joining the University of Utah, Dr. Richards served as the Assistant Vice President for Educational Research and Evaluation at Columbia University Medical Center and Professor of Medical Education in the Department of Pediatrics.
