Anik Patel, MD

Dr. Patel received his M.D. from the University of Missouri. At Children’s Mercy Hospital, in Kansas City, Missouri, he completed a residency in pediatrics, and was appointed as an Assistant Professor. He is board certified in Pediatrics.

Dr. Patel’s clinical responsibilities will occur at The University Teaching Hospital of Rwanda-Butare, and at the Chinle Indian Health Service Hospital in Arizona on the Navajo Nation. Research in health services research with a focus on the provision of pediatric services in resource poor areas.

During residency, Dr. Patel worked with Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative in a clinic with patients with pediatric HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. After graduating from residency, he worked in two refugee camps. He spent the summer of 2017 with Boat Refugee Foundation, a Dutch NGO, working in a refugee camp in Greece called Moria, taking care of both children and adults from the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. In the spring of 2018, he joined an American NGO called MedGlobal working in a camp along the Bangladeshi-Burmese border, seeing pediatric patients and helping with the Rohingya refugee crisis. He is currently a member of the Pediatrics Committee with MedGlobal, helping create protocols and guidelines for the NGO's clinical sites.
