Dr. Hoareau is a veterinarian with board certification in Emergency and Critical Care and a Ph.D. in Integrative Pathobiology. His research focuses on acute care translational research with an interest in military resuscitation. Specifically, he studies novel therapeutic approaches to mitigate ischemia-reperfusion injury in hemorrhagic shock. He works toward preserving mitochondrial function, the essential cell machinery for energy production. He seeks to accelerate the transition of new therapies to clinical practice. Dr. Hoareau mentors trainees around all aspects of translational acute care research with a strong interest and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is part of several pipelines for trainees from underrepresented minorities.
