Dr. Ahonen's work focuses on intertwined determinants of population health inequity and their broader legal, economic, political and social drivers with the aim to illuminate places where intervention is likely to promote greater health equity. At present, these primarily include conditions of employment and work, and the ways in which societal power imbalances result in employment and work of varying quality. Related foci are on housing and migration processes.
