Ryan G. O'Hara, MD

Dr. O’Hara completed his medical training at the University of Washington in Seattle followed by training in diagnostic radiology at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. He then travelled to Philadelphia to pursue fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania and obtained a certificate of added qualification in vascular and interventional radiology.
At the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. O’Hara was named the Cook-Cope scholar and obtained training in the clinical management and minimally invasive treatment of liver diseases as well as pulmonary and renal cancers. In addition, Dr. O'Hara obtained expertise in minimally invasive, endovascular solid organ embolization techniques, including the treatment of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.
Before coming to the University of Utah in 2010, Dr. O’Hara worked as an assistant professor and interventional oncologist at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he developed a robust practice specializing in diseases of the liver and biliary tree as well vascular embolization and minimally invasive tumor treatments. Dr. O'Hara has helped develop the Integrated Theranostics Center (ITC) at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Center with particular focus on the use of lutitium-based Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) for the treatment of metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. In addition to interventional oncology, Dr. O'Hara has particular interest in complex endovascular treatments for peripheral artery disease and critical limb ischemia as well as benign prostate hyperplasia.
