Shawna M. Sisler, Ph.D., MS, MA, MAPP, RN, C-PNP-PC, is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing and an Advanced Wellness Nurse Practitioner at the School of Medicine at the University of Utah. Dr. Sisler is passionate about improving translational science efforts in community psychiatry and wellness. She currently teaches Global Health, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, and Professional Roles 2 (Policy & Health Equity) at the College of Nursing. Dr. Sisler’s scholarly contributions focus on behavioral health integration and social determinants of mental health, particularly in the field of suicidology.
Dr. Sisler received her Ph.D. in Nursing Science from the University of Utah, and her RN and MS in Nursing from UCSF. She holds two additional Masters degrees in Applied Positive Psychology and Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and Santa Clara University, respectively. Prior to her nursing education and research career, Dr. Sisler practiced as a pediatric nurse practitioner at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in child & adolescent psychiatry and developmental medicine.
