Stephen E. Morris, MD, is an emeritus member of the Department of Surgery having served as the Medical Director of the University of Utah Burn Center until 2020 and the immediate past director of the Trauma Center for over 15 years during which time he guided the center to become the first Level One Trauma Center in the Mountain West and was appointed president of the Utah State Committee on Trauma and the chair of the Utah State Trauma System Advisory Committee.
He was a staff surgeon at University of Utah Health Care starting in 1989 after completing his fellowship in Burns at the Shriners Burns Institute and University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas following his general surgery residency and medical school training at the University of Utah.
He was Medical Director of the tissue center for over 14 years and was active in the development of the electronic medical record where he was the surgical physician champion for computerized provider order entry that was implemented in 2010 after over 5 years of development.
Present areas of focus included acute and reconstructive burn care and complex wound management.
