Dr. Tanner is a clinical and environmental microbiologist interested in environmental drivers of antimicrobial resistance. She combines microbiology and infectious disease epidemiology approaches to study environmental factors that influence the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their dissemination, particularly via water environments in hospital and community settings. Dr. Tanner has a special interest in Global Health and has conducted her research in communities and hospitals in the U.S. and South Asia.

Dr. Tanner earned her PhD in Public Health and MSPH at the University of Utah, completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Epidemiology at the University of Utah, and a BS in Biochemistry at Brigham Young University.
