Why Utah?
I was drawn to this program for many reasons. The university serves as a catchment area for many surrounding states which gives residents experience in treating high acuity patients with diverse pathologies. I am excited about the opportunities for rural medicine with a rotation our first year in Blanding, UT as well as global health electives. Salt Lake City has all the access to outdoors you could ever want while still having the attraction of a metropolitan area with countless restaurants and breweries. The most important reason I chose Utah is for the residents and faculty. I have been blown away by the supportive environment and true comradery that exists between all residents.
