In celebration of World Voice Day, University of Utah Health Care presents the Performance Voice Conference. We invite physicians, otolaryngologists, speech language pathologists, faculty, singing coaches and voice instructors to join us for a day of instruction and collaboration with nationally and internationally acclaimed voice professionals.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Attendees learned about the science behind clinical and pedagogical approaches to prevent or care for voice problems affecting performing artists. Topics included scientific and clinical expertise regarding voice science, speech-language pathology, vocal coaching/acting/singing instruction, and pedagogical instruction on the speaking and performance voice of the performing artist.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and describe the scientific, physiologic, clinical and pedagogical perspectives associated with neurogenic-based vocal injuries or challenges.
- Identify and describe the scientific and clinical perspectives regarding the signs, symptoms, and approaches to evaluate and manage unilateral denervation of the external superior laryngeal nerve (eSLN).
- Identify and describe the role of singing on memory and neurological functions
