I was born and raised in North Pole, Alaska… and yes, there is a Santa Claus house and I lived 3 miles away from it the majority of my life! Throughout high school, I always knew I wanted to go to college, but had no idea what I wanted to do with my life until switching my degree 3 times until finally deciding on a career in medicine. During that time, I was in the Alaska Air National Guard (ANG), and once my husband received orders to move to Washington state, the opportunity to become a military medic in the Washington ANG arose! This opportunity enhanced my desire for a career in medicine where I was eventually accepted into Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. My experiences in the military and love for learning have paved my desire to become an emergency medicine doc. I am beyond grateful to be moving to Utah to receive amazing EM training in a location I know I will thrive!

Why Utah?
I completed an EM away rotation at the University of Utah, and was completely blown away by the amount of support from the residents and faculty during my month here. From day one, I felt like I was accepted into a family. Everyone I met was so kind, supportive and eager to help me learn the entire month of the rotation. It was exactly the environment I wanted to be immersed in for residency. I still remember the gut feeling I had on my drive back to Spokane when the rotation ended. It was a feeling like “Wow, what an amazing adventure. I need to come back to this place”. That feeling stuck with me throughout the rest of the year, and I am beyond stoked to be coming back!
