It was a balmy December evening in Southern California when the world and I first met. As the youngest child of three, I rebelled by moving to North Carolina for college. Like a bird in spring, I migrated north to Boston for medical school, during which I also attained a Master of Public Health. The siren call of the sea seduced me; I received a US Navy scholarship for medical school and went on active duty upon graduation. I completed one year of residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Naval Medical Center San Diego before serving as an Undersea Medical Officer for 5 years, where I worked as a primary care physician at the Navy SEAL training school (BUD/S) in San Diego and at a nuclear submarine base in Washington state. Adventures abounded: deep sea diving, diving off a moving submarine, cold weather and mountain medicine training, submarine rescue operations in Norway. After completing my Naval service, I wanted even more adventures, and there was one clear choice: emergency medicine at the University of Utah!

Interests & Hobbies
Sandwich connoisseur and practicing enthusiast. I grew up sailing and scuba diving - I'm sure the Great Salt Lake is perfect for both! I hike and backpack and ski and camp (so cliché). I love basketball both as a fan (go Duke 🥲) and for pickup. I love TV and movies and music and I play a little piano (it's a regular sized piano - I just play it a little). But my cat is my #1 hobby - she's a sassy 10-year-old black cat named Bean and she rules my life.

Why Utah?
When I met the residents on interview day and the second look, it was immediately obvious: everyone was happy, really dedicated to work/life balance, and friends with each other. Pair that with incredible and diverse training sites, dedicated program leadership, and a ski rotation?? Couldn't be more excited!
