Jacob Galindo, MD (He/Him)

  • About Me

I grew up on the sunny shores of Western Florida where I found a love for sports and the water. I had a passion for medicine early on but had no idea what I wanted to do. After attending the University of South Florida, I elected to trade the water for mountains and went to the University of Virginia for medical school. I developed a passion for the outdoors, and found my calling for EM during my third-year clerkship. I loved the acuity and ability to manage anything that came through the door, and thrived in the hectic and fast-paced environment of the ED. EM also affords me the opportunity to blend my interests into my job, does not get much better than that!

    Interests & Hobbies

I love being outside and soaking up every possible minute of daylight. My go to hobbies of choice are mountain biking, rock climbing, disc golf, and tennis. I also enjoy watching my hometown Tampa Bay sports teams and being overly competitive at board games, especially Catan.

    Why Utah?

After doing my visiting rotation at the U, it felt like a natural fit for residency. It is the perfect combination of community and academic medicine, with an exceptional set of staff and residents that were enthusiastic to teach and get students involved. I found the community in SLC inside and outside the hospital to be incredibly friendly and somewhere I could thrive. I also think Utah is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and have dreamed of living there since visiting years ago. Go Utes!
