Erica Rojas serves as associate director of PROMIS2U. In this role, she provides academic support to PROMIS2U students enrolled in the program and throughout their four years of medical school at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine.

Erica is also a doctoral candidate in the department of Education Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah. The experiences she had while accessing and navigating higher education as a first-generation, Latina student were fundamental in shaping her scholarship and choosing a career in education, specifically working with students from first-generation, minoritized, and/or medically underserved backgrounds. Educationally, Erica’s research focuses on understanding the lived experiences of first-generation, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)medical students. She hopes her research will inform practices of medical schools to further support the access and success of first-generation, BIPOC students. Professionally, Erica has worked for over 10 years at the University of Utah in multiple capacities providing academic and developmental support to undergraduate students. During her time at the University, Erica has actively sought out opportunities to engage in conversations of equity, diversity, and inclusion(EDI) and has served in various EDI committees and initiatives.

In her free time, Erica enjoys spending time with her family, solving jigsaw puzzles, catching up with friends, and going on hikes (weather permitting!).
