Welcome, Dr. Alexander Kikuchi

The Department of Pathology is pleased to announce that Alexander Kikuchi, MD, PhD is joining the Anatomic Pathology Division as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Kikuchi specializes in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology. 

Dr. Kikuchi attended the University of Pittsburgh for his MD and PhD education. He then attended the University of California San Francisco for his pathology residency and fellowship. Dr. Kukuchi's research interests include chronic liver injury, hepatocarcinogenesis, and the molecular characteristics and diagnostic classification of primary liver carcinomas. 

Dr. Kikuchi was raised in Santa Cruz, California, and met his wife during his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California. Dr. Kukuchi was drawn to the University of Utah because of the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology division, along with the school being known for its academic excellence and family-oriented faculty. Dr. Kukuchi is also a jazz musician/composer and spends his free time playing board games with his wife and preparing for the first child's arrival in November 2023.
