  • About Me

Dr. Emily Barnes will be starting her fellowship on August 1, 2023. She is originally from Cabot, Arkansas and moved to Durham, North Carolina to attend Duke University where she graduated with a bachelor’s in biology with a concentration in pharmacology and a certificate in global health. Between college and medical school, she took a year off to complete a fellowship at the Comprehensive Rural Health Project in rural Jamkhed, India which inspired her choice of family medicine as her specialty. She completed her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and then attended family medicine residency in Boise, ID at the Full Circle Health program graduating in 2022. In the year between residency and fellowship, she split her time between working as a locum tenens faculty member for the Full Circle Health Family Medicine Residency and spending several months in Guatemala and El Salvador as part of the Somos Hermanos program. Her medical interests include obstetrics, newborn and pediatric care, procedures, global health, and community development. Throughout her medical training, Emily has been fortunate enough to pursue her interests in medical education, global health, and community development through various experiences in the US, China, Peru, Guatemala, and El Salvador. In her free time, Emily enjoys running, hiking, skiing, traveling the world with her husband, and learning Spanish. She is excited to move to Salt Lake City to serve this community and to stay near beautiful mountains!
