About Me
Dr. Olsen is a first-generation immigrant from Venezuela who came to the US when he was 4 years old. He completed his undergraduate biology degree and medical degree at the University of Washington. His medical interests include improving outcomes in high-risk pregnancies, surgical obstetrics, providing care in Spanish to monolingual patients and addressing healthcare disparities. He enjoys birdwatching, nature photography, mountain biking and mentoring premedical students from underrepresented and/or financially disadvantaged backgrounds. He chose the University of Utah for residency training because it offers an excellent balance of academic and community medicine, is well known for its strong academics, prioritizes resident wellness and serves a large immigrant population.
