About Me
Pravin Hivare, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pulst and Scoles Lab, Department of Neurology, University of Utah. His research focuses on unraveling the intricate mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases and developing innovative therapeutic strategies. Employing mouse models and single-nucleus RNA sequencing, Dr. Hivare aims to identify critical molecular pathways involved in disease progression. He leverages advanced microscopy, molecular and cellular biology techniques to translate his findings into potential clinical applications.
Dr. Hivare's doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, India, explored the cellular and molecular dynamics of endocytosis in neuroblastoma cells, investigating the uptake and intracellular trafficking of DNA nanodevices, nanoparticles, and pathogenic protein aggregates like Tau and α-Synuclein. He also delved into hydrogel-based 3D cell culture systems. During his postdoctoral work at the University of Chicago, he honed his expertise in super-resolution microscopy by developing DNA-based fluorescent probes to measure ion concentrations within cellular organelles.
Beyond the laboratory, Dr. Hivare is an avid traveler, hiker, and reader.
