About Me
Viren Patel was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in Apex, North Carolina. He attended Duke University where he completed an undergraduate degree in biology and first became interested in the neurosciences. He returned to the Midwest where he completed his medical education at the University of Michigan Medical School. He also spent a year conducting basic neuroscience research at the University of Michigan and a summer at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory in Massachusetts. He hopes to continue his interest in the neurosciences and neurology by pursuing a career in academic medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys kayaking, spending time with his dog, and astrophotography.
