Overview
Within the division, my focus is on Multiple Sclerosis clinical care and research. Our clinic is a Partner in Care with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and designated a Comprehensive Care Center. We have ongoing clinical investigations of neurogenic pain, OCT and immunotherapies. One special area of research is Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis including clinical and translational investigations. Another important area is development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging for detection of demyelination and remyelination.

Current Research Projects & Funding
NMSS Grant: Charles Casper (PI) & John Rose (CoPI). Renewal of Pediatric MS Network. Purpose: Acquire, curate and analyze data for the US Network of Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Centers. In addition, contribute to the USNPMSC steering committee and assist with proposals, manuscripts and grants for the network.
VA Merit Review: EK Jeong (PI) and John Rose (Co-I). Quantitation of myelin damage in optic nerve, brainstem, cervical spinal cord, and corpus-callosum in MS. Purpose: Utilize new imaging technology including Ultra High b DWI to detect demyelination and remyelination in preclinical models and patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Imaging will focus on Cervical Spinal Cord, Optic Nerves and Corpus Callosum in the models and the MS patients.
Guthy Jackson Charitable Foundation (Cook PI and Rose, Co-Investigator). Data Coordinating Center for Neuromyelitis Optic. Pupose: Develop registries and bio-repositories for the Foundation. Including biological specimens, MRI and OCT resources. Obtain, quality review, and analyze data from the 16 medical centers currently participating in these projects.
PCORI/NIH TREAT-MS (Rose, Site PI). Pupose: Study of Early Therapy of Multiple Sclerosis with clinical, MRI, OCT and patient centered outcome measures. This critical multi-center study will determine relative efficacy of MS therapeutics in relapsing and remitting MS patients with special attention to newer highly active disease.
Biogen: (Rose, PI, Wong Co-PI): Longitudinal Assessment of Optical Coherence Tomography in Patients with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis on Avonex.
D&R Foundation: (Rose, PI, Wong Co-PI): Study of Clinical Care and DMT Access in Young Adults with MS.
