Additionally, I plan to open a clinic in the Salt Lake Valley to help chronically ill patients, like my mother and sister, manage their pain throughout the day.

Khloe Kakunes

I have had an interest in becoming a physician since I was a young girl. A lot of my inspiration comes from my grandmother who served as a self taught midwife for her rural community. I love research, and I’ve had the opportunity to work as a research assistant in early cancer detection research as well as in the University of Utah’s NICU to help identify how to decrease the number of CLABSI occurrences they were experiencing. When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy reading, lifting weights, and playing with my sweet kitties Charcuterie and Robespierre.

When I’m not in uniform or studying, you can find me wearing a harness climbing Utah’s beautiful mountains, dissecting the lyrical genius of Taylor Swift or playing with my dogs.
