All fellowship position openings are offered through the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program). All application materials must be submitted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Please include the following in your ERAS application:
- Common application form (CAF)
- Curriculum vitae
- Three letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
- USMLE and/or COMLEX transcripts
ERAS will begin accepting applications on July 3rd, 2024. Our program can be found in ERAS under program #3424931059 (PM&R).
Early submission of application materials is encouraged. The deadline for complete applications is September 1st.
Fellowship Eligibility
The Sports Medicine Fellowship is open to physicians (US citizen or work eligible) who have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency in:
- Emergency Medicine
- Family Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Successful completion of the fellowship program satisfies the eligibility requirement to take the Sports Medicine Certification Examination.
Salary & Benefits
The fellows are hired as a PGY-4 or PGY-5 housestaff officer, depending on which residency they have completed. The fellows are also provided with a faculty appointment as a visiting instructor within the University of Utah School of Medicine. The salary for the fellowship is at the PGY-4 or PGY-5 level. The benefits are the same as for all house staff at the university. An additional stipend is provided for educational expenses. Three weeks of vacation plus one additional week of academic leave are allowed.
