Why Utah?
University of Utah stood out to me for several reasons when I rotated here as a medical student. First, the faculty were friendly, approachable, and truly happy to be teaching. I think this type of environment is necessary to allow residents to be comfortable with asking questions and learning hands-on skills. Second, residents were not just coworkers but also mentors and friends. I was looking for co-residents who I could simultaneously look up to and laugh with. Third, I wanted to make the most of my free time, and the outdoor activities in Salt Lake are endless. The final reason that I chose University of Utah is because I felt that Utah would challenge me most. University of Utah sets high expectations for their residents, and I wanted the opportunity to fulfill those expectations and ultimately become the best orthopedic surgeon I can be.
