I grew up in northern California and enlisted in the military and worked as a wildland firefighter before undergrad. I received a degree in mathematics from the University of New Mexico and my medical degree from Mayo Clinic where I was fortunate to have the support of outstanding mentors to pursue my interests.

I think Utah is amongst the strongest programs in the country and was convinced after spending time here that this was the place for me. The people here are first class, they are supportive and fun while setting the bar very high. The clinical training and research resources are phenomenal across the specialties, and Salt Lake City is an exceptional location to raise a family.
