  • About Me

Dr. Daniel Montelongo was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. After graduating from high school, he moved to San Antonio where he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for both undergraduate and graduate studies. In the fall of 2018, he obtained a PhD in cell & molecular biology. His work has been largely focused on fungal pathogens Candida albicans and the newly emerged Candida auris. Outside of microbiology, Daniel enjoys music, coffee, outdoor activities, as well as playing and watching sports. The medical microbiology fellowship presents him with the opportunity to be in Utah for the first time. He looks forward to visiting as many national parks in the area as possible.
