Why Utah?
The supportive and engaging culture of this program makes me confident that I will become an extremely capable surgeon, while still being a compassionate, well-rounded human. The career and training potential is limitless at the U. The community of residents and faculty constantly strive to see peers and trainees succeed, and also encourage individuality and pursuit of our passions. As someone who is unsure of fellowship/career goals, it is comforting knowing that my program has the infrastructure to support me regardless and has genuine interest and care for each of its residents. This program truly gives me a home away from home!
When I came to the U for my Second Look, I had the opportunity to sit in on resident education/conference. The way that the faculty and residents interacted and the learning environment they fostered was extremely collaborative, respectful and fun. Now being a resident here, I see how this culture carries into clinical practice, promoting learning and comradery on a daily basis.
