  • About Me

    Medical School: Vanderbilt University

College / University Name: University of Vermont

Major / Specialty: Molecular Genetics, Pharmacology

    Degree(s): BS

Scholarly Activity: I took an interest in surgical outcomes research while in medical school, and with the help of peers and great mentors was able to publish work in pediatric and trauma surgery. I am also quite interested in how trauma affects all aspects of our patient’s lives – with this interest in mind, I helped develop a standardized PTSD screening workflow in our institution’s pediatric trauma program and helped develop teaching on Trauma Informed Care, which was delivered to our school’s first year medical students for the last three years.

Career Plans: As of starting residency, I have a strong interest in pediatric surgery and trauma surgery. I look forward to exploring these fields, and many others, in residency! I’m also very interested in research and academic medicine, and look forward to developing further in these areas during the RCDY years.

    Why Utah?

Finding an excellent surgical program that was near my family was very important to me when choosing a residency. My wife and I had identical twin girls this spring, so I wanted to go somewhere where we’d have family support and would have access to a great surgical program – ultimately helping me to succeed inside and outside of the hospital. I feel lucky to have access to such a strong, well-rounded, academic surgical program so close to where I grew up in order to make this next step in my career and in my families lives!
