About Me
Dr. Jay Smith was the inaugural Middleton Visiting Professor. Dr. Smith, until recently, was the Chairman of Urology at Vanderbilt University and served for many years as the Editor of the Journal of Urology. However, he started his training at Utah under Dr. Middleton and has spoken of Dr. Middleton as one of his most important mentors. In fact, after completing a fellowship in urologic oncology, Dr. Smith worked for many years at University of Utah prior to taking the chairmanship at Vanderbilt University.
Although an expert in urologic oncology, Dr. Smith discussed two different topics he is passionate about: interpreting the medical literature and the value of mentorship.
