SAVE THE DATE FOR ALUMNI WEEKEND: SEPT 26-28, 2024!

The Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine Alumni Association welcomes all medical alumni back to campus including MDs, physician assistants, residents, fellows, and former faculty for Alumni Weekend on September 26-28, 2024. Special recognition will be made for the MD Classes of 1974, 1999, and 2014 along with PA Classes of 1974 and 1999. 

We invite you to take a few days to reconnect with classmates while learning about programs, projects, and engagements that are positively impacting our communities locally and contributing internationally to the areas of medicine, research science, industry innovation, and outreach. 

All events are complimentary for alumni and a guest.

2024 Alumni Weekend Schedule: Sept 26-28

    • Noon to 1 PM: Annual Dr. and Mrs. Maxwell M. Wintrobe Endowed Lectureship 
      6th-floor auditorium at Huntsman Cancer Institute – Research North (HCI-RN)

      The annual Dr. and Mrs. Maxwell M. Wintrobe Endowed Lectureship in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine will feature Diane Krause MD, PhD, Professor of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Cell Biology at Yale University; Associate Director of the Yale Stem Cell Center; and Director of the Clinical Cell Processing Laboratory.
       

    • 6 to 8:30 PM: MedExcellence Awards Ceremony
      Cleon Peterson Eccles Alumni House

      The Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine MedExcellence Awards brings together distinguished honorees, alumni, faculty, and communities to recognize and celebrate the achievements of alumni, faculty, and colleagues. The school will recognize the recipients of the Distinguished Alumni, Service, and Humanitarian awards, the Community Faculty Teaching award sponsored by CompHealth, and the S. Paul Southwick Prize for Clinical Excellence and Teaching award.
       
    • 9 to 10:30 AM: Breakfast and conversations with leadership and students
      Eccles Health Sciences Education Building - Alumni Hall

      Kick-start the day with breakfast with your fellow alumni followed by an engaging discussion with panelists spanning from senior leadership and faculty to students on the impacts of launching a new medical curriculum, global health initiatives, and expansion of the health sciences campus.  

       

    • 10:45 to 11:15 AM: Special documentary screening: Remembering 521
      Eccles Health Sciences Education Building - Alumni Hall

      Join us for the screening of the documentary, ‘Remembering 521,’ a heartfelt tribute to the old School of Medicine (Building 521) at the University of Utah. The film bridges the past and the future, highlighting the exciting next chapter that awaits with the brand-new Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. This is the first time this film will be shown, and you are invited to be among the very first to experience it.

       

    • 11:30 to 11:45 AM: Eccles Health Science Library experiences and tour
      Eccles Health Sciences Library 

      Overlook the construction of the new Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine (SFESOM) building and discover how this infrastructure gives way for innovative training. Then, experience virtual reality and uncover new methods of teaching and services provided to learners and researchers through the SFESOM and the Eccles Health Science Library

       

    • 6:30 to 9 PM: Class anniversary dinners, including the Half Century Society Induction
      Cleone Peterson Eccles Alumni House 

      The evening will begin with a reception and warm welcome from Samuel Finlayson, M.D., MPH, MBA, interim dean of the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah, followed by individual class dinners for MD Classes of 1974 (which includes the Half Century Society Induction), 1999, and 2014 and PA Classes of 1974 and 1999. 
    • 2.5 hours prior to kickoff: U Alumni and U of U Health Homecoming Tailgate (separate registration required)
