The Transgender Medicine Health Summit
Stay tuned for details on our next conference!
Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming individuals (persons who do not identify with their gender assigned at birth) experience a staggering degree of both health access and outcome disparities compared to a cis-gendered population. There are a small group of providers nationally who have the appropriate training and interest in providing both primary care and gender affirming care (both medical and surgical). In order to improve access and outcomes for this gender and sexual minority, it is important to improve the capacity of the existing health workforce to be able to provide high quality, comprehensive and compassionate care for this population.
The University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, FamiIy Medicine Division is sponsoring this conference geared towards primary care providers in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics working in the Mountain West and beyond who are interested in learning more about providing team-based holistic care for transgender and non-conforming patients in the primary care setting.
The conference will cover the following general topics:
- Epidemiology, health access and health disparities for TG/GNC patients in the US
- Standards of care for hormone therapy
- Complications, monitoring and long term management of TG/GNC patients
- Surgical interventions
- Adolescent/pediatric care
- SOGI data collection
